A change of wind direction to north-west in the early hours of the morning brought a welcomed push of birds to the station. The first net round produced four Kærsanger within the first three nets checked, proceeding with a Græshoppersanger, Gulspurv and 2 Grå Fluesnapper by the second round, a clear sign of movement to the area. The morning rush hours left us with more than 100 birds by 10 O’clock, but activity continued throughout the day at a steady average of 15 new birds per net round. Our day dedicated to the nets highlighted a sustained flow of Løvsanger, Gærsanger, Tornsanger, Gulbug and Rødstjert through the area and resulted in our largest catch of the season so far, 219 new birds ringed.

Josh returned to the team today bringing with him a movement of raptors.  Throughout the afternoon both Josh and Phillip observed 12 Hvepsevåger in a thermal, as well as a Hedehøg, 2 Fiskeørne, a Lærkefalk. A quick trip to the tip using the new station bikes allowed us to enjoy a beautifully calm evening with the company of approx 80 feeding Sejlere, and 35 Gul vipstjerter. With migration clearly at a stand-still, we decided to call it a day and headed back to the station.
