Finally a morning without wind
Ringmærkningen :
After several days of rain and strong winds, which made ringing impossible, the weather forecast for today was excellent: a light breeze and a clear sky. Consequently, all 280 metres of mist nets were opened by 6:30 am. We were ready. First came a wave of goldcrests, mainly females, followed by a wave of wrens. But the star of the day was the bullfinch, with 69 individuals of 13 species ringed. What a beautiful, handsome, peaceful bird! Being used to ringin France, I am not accustomed to seeing so many bullfinches in a single session.

We were hoping to catch a hawfinch too; we had seen one sitting in a tree in the garden. However, he decided not to come down. However, we caught a couple siskins and blackbirds. And the inevitable robins and blue tits.
All in all, it was a nice ringing day, with variety, and enough birds to keep us busy, without rush.
This afternoon, we went to Bøtø in the hope of seeing lots of ducks, and we were not disappointed: Gadwall, Pin-tailed, Mallard, Wigeon, Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Pochard and Teal were all present ! We also had the pleasure of seeing the three species of swan, which are not so common in France. Finally, the two white-tailed eagles were there, those majestic birds who scare everyone when they fly, like lions walking in the savannah.
Tomorrow is the last day for Noémie and Benoît before they return to France, so hopefully the waxwings will be in the nets to say goodbye!
Trækket på Odden : No migration count this morning, we were expecting more birds at the ringing station so everybody was there.
