Ringmærkningen: What a pleasure it was to open the nets with the sound of Fuglekonge (Goldcrest) calling everywhere ! We decided to take boxes with us for the first round, expecting to catch lots of those little birds, and it wasn’t a bad idea: there were around 20 Goldcrest at the first round, as well as a Rødtoppet fuglekonge( Firecrest) ! It's nice to see that they are still migrating, with 36 of them this morning. However, we did not ring them all; I saw two unringed birds this afternoon We will catch them tomorrow.

It was getting slow pretty early on, but there were always between five and ten birds in each round, and finally we reached eighty birds, which is not bad for this time of year.

The birds of the day were the two Bjergirisk (twite) that we caught with the pond net. These are the ninth and tenth captures of this species; the last one was in 2018 and I hadn't even been born for the first two... We used speakers mostly for the Engpiber (Meadow pipit), but we also played some Bjergirisk (twite) recordings without expecting anything, but finally It was the first time I had caught this species, and the same goes for Anna. She also handled a Hvid vipstjert (white wagtail) for the first time !

Tomorrow, the weather is kind of the same as today, it's good, we will wait patiently for the Waxwings !

Trækket på Odden: Torsdag talte vi ikke træk på Odden. På grund af tandlægebesøg, skift til vinterdæk på bil og forskellige andre aftaler havde vi ganske enkelt ikke nogen til at tælle. Til gengæld var det lykkedes at få mange opgaver koncentreret til samme dag, så fredag morgen er fuglestationen ude med mindst til at tælle igen. En eftermiddagstur ud til spidsen i det gode vejr afslørede i øvrigt, at der ikke foregik meget træk.
