Dagens ringmærkning og kontroller/Todays ringing and recaptures:
Gærdesmutte/Wren 1(0)
Jernspurv/Dunnock 1(0)

Trækket på Odden: Without any clouds and barely any wind, the sunrise and the following 5 standard hours felt really nice. As for the previous days, the first hour was pretty quiet before getting more and more busy. Today is the second time since the beginning of the season that we observed more than 2000 individuals, most of them still going southwards. Among them, we got pretty big groups of geese, such as the Brent geese (Knortegås) with 9 individuals, which is big for this period, and the White fronted geese (Blisgås) with 220 individuals. For once the black-headed gulls (Hættemåge) were also moving in large flocks up to 43 individuals instead of flying one by one.
A new sign of spring, a Black Redstart, immediately began to scout for insects on the wall to eat when it appeared at Gedser Odde this morning. In the lower picture, some of the red tail behind the species name is visible. Photo: Ole Friis Larsen/GFU
Some passerines came and enjoyed the sun with us, either in the bushes like the House Sparrow (Gråspurv) or on the roof of the building like the male Black Redstart (Husrødstjert). Some others decided that today was the day to go, like the Wood larks (Hedelærke) or the tits (Blåmejse and Musvit) which were seen migrating for the first time this season. In addition to these great observations, we also got lucky today with the White-tailed Eagles (Havørn). We observed 5 different individuals at the same time, and one more on our way back to the station. They were all flying in the same direction out in the sea, so we can imagine there is maybe some food waiting for them somewhere…
