Ringmærkningen: We decided not to open some of the nets because of the wind, and we weren't expecting many birds today. The day went indeed slowly, with many empty rounds. But around half time through the morning, the numbers suddenly doubled up with the appearance of four little fluffy feather balls in the net by the house. These Blackcaps chicks (Munk) are the first new fledgings we got this year. We were not able to measure the wing lenght as they hadn’t fully grown yet, but they showed us they already know how to use them when we released them near where we had found them !

I had to wait for this little grumpy fluff to fly off my hand and get back to its siblings and parents. Picture by Henrik Jørgensen.
