Today it has been a long day at the station. At 5:00 the nets were ready to get new birds and we were excited about what this day would bring us.

The 2 first rounds were good, with more than 20 birds each. Then it started slowing down, but even though it didn’t feel like a big day Ramón kept the nets opened after the standard and he is being ringing the whole afternoon. Such a big effort he did today!

There were some starlings flying over all day and we got some in the nets. New ringed species for me!

Stæar / Common Starling

The highlight of the day was a new Grasshopper warbler that Ramón got in the afternoon, it seems is a good year for them.

Bo was here this morning setting up the box for the GFU flyers with the station information. Now people visiting the southernmost point of Denmark can get information about Gedser Fuglestation.

Gert also came in the morning to visit on his way to the tip for some birding.

In the afternoon Anton and me have done some data entry checking and now all the data for this season is checked and corrected! We did also some nets fixing because the hare we have living in the garden seems to be enjoying destroying our nets, so she/he is giving us a bit of extra work :)

It´s late, Ramón is already in bed, Anton is preparing some dinner and we will be soon in dreamland too, charging batteries for another amazing day in paradise.
